“Practice these things. Devote your life to them so that everyone can see your progress.”
As believers, we have been called to pursue excellence in all areas of our lives. The Bible teaches us to continually grow and develop, to use our gifts and talents to their fullest potential, and to strive for excellence in all that we do. This calls for constant improvement in every area of our lives.
However, it is important to stress that improvement is not about perfection, rather, it is about progress. It is taking small steps every day towards becoming better, by learning new things, developing new skills, and practicing what you know, and striving to become the person that God has created you to be.
Our opening text, culled from a letter from Apostle Paul to Timothy, speaks of the need to practice consistently what he had learnt, so that his improvement and progress can be evident for all to see. This shows that improvement is a process that requires consistent learning, practice and discipline.
Thus, it is not enough to study the Word of God daily, attend seminars, review feedbacks from clients and customers, etc. without giving due diligence to itemize and internalize what has been learnt, and then to spend each day working towards implementing them in your life, career or business.
Therefore, make a daily commitment to consciously work towards improvement in every area of your life. Be in readiness to practice the principles that you know, devoting your life to ensuring that you get better, and more productive in every area of your life, so that your progress can be evident to all.

I love this devotional. When working on improving yourself it’s important to focus on the purpose (goal) God has for you and not compare yourself to others. Rather, ensure that the you of today is better than the you of yesterday in all aspects. You have to decide to improve and relentlessly keep at it. In this world we live in all high performers whether they be athletes, businessmen or even entertainers practise in order to get to the highest level of results and reap the harvest that comes with this. Therefore it’s essential for us to see our walk with God in the same light, we can’t be half hearted with our works and expect to see similar results in our lives such as the likes of the great Prophet Isiah wealth.
What we people see of ourselves in public is a product of what we do in private, the battle is not won on the battlefield it’s won in the training camp, it’s won in the closet when we pray, on our desks when we study the word of God !
Additionally these high performers have Coaches and mentors which accelerate their growth dramatically and to make things easier for ourselves The Lord Jesus Christ has gifted us with Prophets, Pastors, Teachers, Evangelists and Apostles and when we identify these men of God in our life and utilise these gifts to the church that The Lord Jesus Christ has provided to us us to the fullest it will not only accelerate our growth by making our practise even more productive but also make the journey a lot smoother.
The end result will then be the world knowing through us the sons and children of God that The Lord Jesus Christ is alive. Not just by what we say but by our Fruits !

Rome they said was not built in a day. It’s required for us to pick what we have heard and revisit it in relearning and practising daily.
A typical example is the teachings of the prophet. We can practice it from Monday till Saturday before taking in another.
Let your learning by broken into bits to give room for practice. Don’t be in a rush to learn the next topic until you have practiced this one and can teach someone else.

This reminds me of something I read somewhere something ago, “consistency is showing up and giving your best”.
Now, that is to say that your best might not always be a 100, i.e perfection, but you make consistent progress when you turn up and give your best at the level you’re at, so if you feel like a 20, you give your best at that 20, if you feel a 10, give your best at the ten.
Often times, people wait till they feel a 100 and this makes them lose out on progress.
We can say that, Improvement is consistent or continued progress.
