Daniel 6:3 (KJV): “Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.”
Excellence is a distinguishing trait that causes one to be preferred. It is a spiritual force before it is a professional standard, and when the Spirit of God produces excellence in a believer, that excellence elevates them above their contemporaries, commands the attention of those in authority, and opens doors that talent and connection alone could never unlock. Excellence is God’s way of making you stand out without you having to push your way to the front.
An excellent spirit means you bring the fullness of your God-given ability to everything you do. It means your work, your character, and your conduct are all governed by a standard that reflects the God you serve. Excellence is not perfectionism; it is the faithful stewardship of what God has placed in your hands.
Today, ask God for an excellent spirit. Let it govern how you work, how you speak, how you carry yourself, and how you approach every responsibility entrusted to you, knowing that excellence will open doors that striving never could. You will be preferred and promoted to the level that God has ordained for your life.
Hold on to this prophetic declaration from Prophet Isaiah Macwealth:
I decree that an excellent spirit is at work in you right now, causing you to be preferred above every competitor and positioned for promotion! The King is thinking of setting you over greater territory because of the excellence that God has placed in you. You are rising, in Jesus’ name!

Start-Up Prayer:
Father, I ask You for an excellent spirit. I declare that I bring the fullness of my God-given ability to everything I do today and I refuse to settle for less than the standard Your Spirit produces in me. Let excellence govern my work, my character, and my conduct. As an excellent spirit is in me, let me be preferred and promoted to the place You have ordained for me, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Nation Focus: Ethiopia
Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world and one of the fastest-growing Christian populations on the African continent, with Christians comprising approximately 62% of the population, predominantly Ethiopian Orthodox in tradition, alongside a rapidly growing evangelical movement. The nation has a deep biblical heritage, being referenced in Scripture and home to one of the earliest Christian communities in the world. Ethiopia faces significant challenges including internal ethnic conflict, border disputes, a humanitarian crisis in some regions, and the pressure of Islamic expansion in the Horn of Africa. Yet the Church in Ethiopia is vibrant, prayerful, and growing, with a deep tradition of fasting and intercession.
Prayer for a Nation:
Father, raise up a Daniel generation in Ethiopia, believers in every sector of society who carry an excellent spirit and are preferred above their peers because of the God who lives in them. Let the excellence of Spirit-filled Ethiopians become a force for national transformation in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Leaders:
Father, let an excellent spirit be required of every leader in Ethiopia. Let the standard of excellence in governance, in service, and in accountability rise and let leaders who refuse to settle for corruption and mediocrity emerge as the preferred ones in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Israel:
Father, let the spirit of excellence that You have placed in the Jewish people be fully consecrated to the purposes of Your Kingdom. Let the intellectual, creative, and entrepreneurial excellence for which Israel is known be submitted to the Lordship of Christ and used for the advancement of His Kingdom in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Unity in the Church:
Father, let a spirit of excellence govern the way the Church in our cities relates to one another and to the communities we serve. Let the quality of our love, our worship, our service, and our witness be so excellent that it becomes undeniable evidence of the God we represent in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Souls/Revival:
Father, let the excellence of Spirit-filled believers in our communities be a witness that draws the lost to Christ. Let the standard of character, integrity, and faithfulness that the Spirit produces cause those around them to ask for the reason of the hope and excellence they see in Jesus’ name.
