“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
God’s Word contains all that you need for a successful life, career or ministry. However, God’s Word will not work for you just because you read it or because the Bible is placed under your pillow all night long. Our opening text today stresses the need to study to the point where we can rightly divide the word of truth.
Digging deep into God’s Word for revelation and greater understanding requires much time and energy. That is why it qualifies as a form of work. Diligently sharing God’s Word with the people in your life and those who God has placed you over is also labour, one which makes you honourable before God and man (1Tim. 5:17).
As a believer, you would be in a better position to put down the devil and triumph over the limitations of this realm when you go beyond mere assumptions to knowing the Word of God for yourself, having properly assimilated it by meditation (Matt. 4:1-11). Then, you will live a life worthy of attracting the lost to Christ, and reap the fruits of constant victory and prosperity.
Therefore, be disciplined to take out time to labour in the Word today and always, so that you can live a life of constant victory, rightly dividing the word whenever the need arises.

Studying God’s word to a point of getting revelation and understanding is the best way to beat the devil hands down without a fight. Jesus was able to overcome the devil without a sword or spear (Matt 4:1-11) by just the word. So today I resolute in giving my time to studying God’s word🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭
When the devil lies to you about your work, health, business etc, only with the truth of the word can you come against that tricky devil, just like a math professor who will always set difficult and tricky questions so will the devil and those who don’t study wouldn’t have what to write nor say against the arrows fired by the devil
We would never see the importance of studying our Bible until we’re in a position where we have to defend it, defend God & defend ourselves. I was put in that spot one day on outreach. I don’t really read my Bible before I step out for outreach, I only pray. But that day, I was “disturbed in my spirit” to read my Bible, and I did for just 5 minutes and I was shocked on how important I needed the Bible to back up an important conversation I was having with a soul. In fact the Bible goes on to say my people suffer because of the lack of knowledge, and knowledge is gotten only when you truly study, and not studying puts you in a place of being a word illiterate, and when the devil comes at you, you will be found wanting

This is a very timely devotional. I love the first paragraph which says ” God’s Word will not work for you just because you read it or because the Bible is placed under your pillow all night long”. This is a trap a great number of believers have found themselves in. Reading to fulfil all righteousness or just having it under the pillow to satisfy ones conscience. The Psalms are filled with references to thirst and water. Think of where the Bible was written. The Middle East is mostly deserts, so water is a precious commodity. The Lord sustains life, and with water being scarce, God giving his believers water is an apt metaphor that explains what His love does for us. It quenches and nourishes us when we most need it.

The only way for believers to grow is through a lifestyle of labouring for God. Labouring for eternal life. These days people give 14-16 hours to work everyday but they find it hard to give God some hours to labour for Him. Note that we are all called to be labourers for God.

I was put in that spot one day on outreach. I don’t really read my Bible before I step out for outreach, I only pray. But that day, I was “disturbed in my spirit” to read my Bible, and I did for just 5 minutes and I was shocked on how important I needed the Bible to back up an important conversation I was having with a soul.
