STAY FREE

There is a freedom – the liberty of the Spirit into which Christ has brought us. When he took the stripes, paid the ultimate price, and went to hell, he took the keys of keys of death and hell, blotted out the handwriting that was against us, spoiled principalities and powers in an open triumph – all for us!

Surprisingly, in our opening text today, we see Apostle Paul calling us to ‘Resist the yoke of bondage and stay free!’ But why would anyone who has already been set free want to slide back into oppression and bondage? Well, it is because the devil never gives up trying to draw the believer back into his grip.

You may notice that you are suddenly excusing sin away, or losing the fire for prayer, passion for prayer, or drive for evangelism. It may even be weakness or afflictions creeping up on you. Whatever works of the flesh or yoke of the devil seeks to catch up with you, today’s text is a reminder that your freedom in Christ is that which you must fight to retain. Stand firm in the freedom purchased by Christ’s blood for you.

Therefore, do not entertain any form of addiction, oppression or affliction in your body, soul or spirit. Rebuke that sickness, refuse that evil report, denounce the thoughts that do not align with God’s Word. Refuse to be drawn back into the captivity that Christ already freed you from. If you resist the devil, he will surely flee from you! (James 4:7)

There are also serious social problems on the island including alcoholism, high rates of divorce, and drug use among the youth.

1. Prayer for the nation: Father in the name of Jesus, we ask for an outpour of your Spirit upon Palau, that will cause a mighty harvest of souls into the Kingdom, in the name of Jesus!

2. Prayer for the leaders: Father in the name of Jesus, touch the hearts of the Palau Island leaders today, and cause them to desire righteousness and begin to thirst for the truth, in the name of Jesus.
