Scriptural Text: – Matthew 25:1-30″
“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
The word “foolish” in the above scripture is from a Greek word “moros”. It means to be blocked headed or headless. In contemporary English, it is to be dull. This may sound harsh but why does Jesus call them foolish? They were called foolish because they lacked foresight so they did take oil with them. They failed to make adequate preparation for what they claimed to be expecting.
Sadly, some persons are this way. They may be well-intentioned people with good ideas, but they lack a good strategy for implementation. They do not project into the future and anticipate challenges, so they are shocked when they meet challenges. They do not determine what they will require aforetime, so they are always running helter-skelter at the last minute.
They have a mind to succeed, but they do not think things through before they start building their businesses or endeavours. They do the right things at the wrong time or at the wrong place, hence they are not effective. Like the foolish virgins, they know to buy oil but do not know to get enough. They are those who always try to solve issues at the minute when things have already gone bad. And, like the foolish virgins, because their foolishness, brings losses into their lives, relationships and businesses, they always end up being rejected.
As someone who intends to succeed, you must shun foolishness in every form. Become deliberate about adequately planning and strategic implementation of your ideas. Think through every project so that you can anticipate challenges, and make plans to surmount them even before they surface. That way, you will not incur losses.

Foresight is key – scouting and checking for potential threats is important if not Joshua and Caleb wouldn’t have gone to scout the Promised Land. Oh Lord this is very relatable. A lot of people have Good intentions to succeed but lack foresight and adequate planning which leads to automatic failure and rejection. My God just like the 5 virgins the bible called foolish because they were at a disadvantage in the last minute for lack of foresight and planning which led to them being rejected and shut out.
Intentions and starting the process isn’t enough, i must plan adequately and prepare for future roadblocks.

Oh lord help me to become a person that knows how to plan ahead of situations. Honestly, sometimes we find ourselves acting foolish as a result of I’ll-preparedness and later on thought within ourselves that ‘we could have done better’ had we prepared adequately.
It is one thing to have ideas and another thing is to be able to consider what is needed to make the ideas work and commit to it until it’s been executed. Wisdom see ideas through to execution and tangible achievements. Leaving our God-given ideas to chance is not a show of wisdom. From this devotional, I have learned that one can be doing things foolishly and yet be confident of been smart. Wisdom entails been proactive, anticipating the outcome and making ready all that is required to face the challenges ahead. Foolishness is when one feels he has everything figured out without considering the views of those in the best positions to predict the outcome of the matter. It is to see oneself as wise always even when it is glaring that one is void of wisdom. I choose to embrace wisdom; finding the ways to do thongs better, ensure not to keep making the same mistakes, learn from those ahead of me, be opened to rebuke and criticism all with the purpose of becoming the best I can be. I must think through every project so that I can anticipate challenges, and make plans to surmount them even before they surfaces. So I will not incur losses.

Foolishness is one thing I have desired never to allow near me at anything. Its a daily fight to shun this.
I must watch out for it and for those around me who need to understand the importance of this. Can’t imaging being among the foolish Virgins.
Foolish will deny one of the joys of his future… I must ensure I create the right implementation for every desired result.
