Esther 4:16 (KJV): “Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.”
Fasting and prayer is a powerful spiritual discipline God has entrusted to every believer, especially for seasons that require clarity, strength, and divine direction. It is more than the absence of food; it is a deliberate setting apart of oneself to seek God with focus, humility, and expectation. Through fasting and prayer, the heart becomes more sensitive to God’s voice, and the spirit becomes more aligned with His will, opening the way for wisdom, peace, and breakthrough.
Fasting combined with prayer is an act of consecration that says to God that you are serious, that you are dependent, and that you are willing to deny yourself in order to press through to the breakthrough He has ordained for you. It shifts atmospheres, silences the voice of the enemy, and releases the hand of God into situations that have resisted every other approach. Fasting and prayer can turn your most threatening situation into your greatest testimony.
Today, consider what God is calling you to consecrate in this season through fasting and prayer. Approach every mountain with resolve and with the determination that says I will not stop until I have pressed through to the answer. Fasting and prayer will launch you into your victory.
Hold on to this prophetic declaration from Prophet Isaiah Macwealth:
I decree that your fasting and prayer is creating a prevailing force in the heavenly realm right now! Every death sentence the enemy has spoken over your situation is being reversed. You are going before the King and the sceptre of favour is being extended to you, in Jesus’ name!

I declare that my consecration is releasing a prevailing force that shifts every situation that has resisted every other approach. Like Esther, I press through with the resolve that says I will not stop until the breakthrough comes. My fasting and prayer overcomes, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Nation Focus: Ethiopia
Ethiopia is one of the oldest nations in the world and one of the fastest-growing Christian populations on the African continent, with Christians comprising approximately 62% of the population, predominantly Ethiopian Orthodox in tradition, alongside a rapidly growing evangelical movement. The nation has a deep biblical heritage, being referenced in Scripture and home to one of the earliest Christian communities in the world. Ethiopia faces significant challenges including internal ethnic conflict, border disputes, a humanitarian crisis in some regions, and the pressure of Islamic expansion in the Horn of Africa. Yet the Church in Ethiopia is vibrant, prayerful, and growing, with a deep tradition of fasting and intercession.
Prayer for a Nation:
Father, let the long tradition of fasting and prayer in the Ethiopian Church produce a prevailing breakthrough for this nation in this season. Let the consecrated prayers of Ethiopian believers turn the tide on every ethnic conflict, every humanitarian crisis, and every force of darkness pressing against this nation in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Leaders:
Father, let the leaders of Ethiopia be compelled by the example of a fasting, praying Church. Let the humility and consecration of believers become a witness to those in power and let leaders who are willing to seek God for national direction emerge in this season in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Israel:
Father, let the Ethiopian Jewish community, the Beta Israel, be drawn back to the land and let their return be part of the fulfilment of Your prophetic purposes for Israel in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Unity in the Church:
Father, let the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the evangelical Church, and every expression of the Body of Christ in Ethiopia come together in the common discipline of fasting and prayer. Let their united consecration become the force that breaks through every spiritual stronghold over the nation in Jesus’ name.
Prayer for Souls/Revival:
Father, let the harvest of souls in Ethiopia accelerate in this season. Let the vibrant witness of a fasting, praying Church open doors that would otherwise remain shut and let millions more come into the Kingdom in Jesus’ name.
