“Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation:”
Prayer is not a mere religious rite, it is a spiritual armour given to you by God to protect yourself in spiritual battle. Just like our opening text shows us, if you are not praying, you are putting yourself at risk of being hit by the arrow of temptation that the enemy will shoot at you. This is why you should be on guard and watch in prayers all the time.
To watch, according to the dictionary, is to look at or observe attentively over a period of time. For a believer, to watch is to be awake and alert against the attacks of the enemy. It is to observe carefully to know what to pray and how to stand against the attacks of the devil.
If you are not awake and alert in the realm of the spirit, you are not watching, and if you are not watching to observe what the enemy may be planning, you would not be able to pray effectively or stand when temptations come. Watching is what keeps you praying always, and it is prayer that keeps the flesh under, so that you become less susceptible to the temptation of the enemy.
Therefore, be strategic in prayer daily by ensuring that you keep watch over your home, children, business, etc, so you can properly position yourself in prayer. This way, you can find something to pray about your health, your home, business, finance, etc. to forestall the enemy’s plan, and get into God’s perfect will for your life.

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood thus our physical sight is not of importance in this battle, we activate our battle sight in the place of watching in prayer. If I am not praying, I am putting yourself at risk of being hit by the arrow of temptation that the enemy will shoot at me. I need to be on my guard that I am not caught unawares of the devil’s wiles to put me under.
