DOMINION OVER THE SPIRIT

Dominion over your spirit means guarding your heart from the impurities of the spirit such as bitterness, offence, unforgiveness, and every attitude that grieves the Spirit of God. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your inner man so you can rule your spirit with wisdom and stability.

Audio Version

Proverbs 25:28 (KJV) – “He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.”

Your spiritual life is your responsibility, and God expects you to have dominion over your Spirit. Dominion over your spirit means guarding your heart from the impurities of the spirit such as bitterness, offence, unforgiveness, and every attitude that grieves the Spirit of God. It is the discipline of yielding your heart to the Holy Spirit rather than allowing them to rule you. It is a conscious choice to keep your spiritual life aligned with God’s nature.

When you walk in dominion over your spirit, you create room for peace, clarity, and spiritual sensitivity. Your heart becomes a place where God’s presence can dwell freely without resistance. This produces emotional stability and strengthens your ability to respond to life from a place of grace rather than reaction.

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to strengthen your inner man so you can rule your spirit with wisdom and stability. Your dominion over your spirit becomes the foundation of your effectiveness in every area of life. As your spirit is kept under the rule of God’s Word, you reflect His character more clearly in every area of life.

Hold on to this prophetic declaration from Prophet Isaiah Macwealth:

I decree that you are ruling over your spirit in this season! Your inner city is fortified and protected and no emotion, no pressure, no circumstance can destabilise you or cause you to lose your way. You are a person of dominion over your own spirit, in Jesus’ name!

Section 2—Praying the Promises:

Start-Up Prayer:

Father, I thank You that I can have dominion over my spirit. I declare that I rule over my emotions, my will, and my inner responses with wisdom and strength. My spirit is fortified and stable and I am a person who can be trusted to remain steady even when circumstances are turbulent. I have dominion over my spirit, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Nation Focus: Nigeria

Nigeria is the most populous nation in Africa with an estimated population of over 220 million people. It is home to one of the largest and most vibrant Christian communities on the continent, with Christians comprising approximately 46% of the population, largely in the south and middle belt regions. The nation faces significant challenges including economic instability, security crises in multiple regions, widespread corruption, and persistent religious tension between Christian and Muslim communities in the north. Yet the Nigerian Church is a global mission force, sending ministers and intercessors around the world and carrying a burden for the evangelisation of the African continent.

Prayer for a Nation:

Father, let the spirit of Nigeria be renewed and ruled by wisdom and restraint. Let the nation move with purpose and stability as believers rule over their spirits and the collective spiritual landscape is transformed in Jesus’ name.

[Pray in tongues for 1 minute] Prayer for Leaders:

Father, let the leaders of Nigeria be people who have dominion over their own spirits. Let emotional wisdom, restraint, and the stability of those who rule their inner landscape become the characteristics of those in authority in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for Israel:

Father, let Israel stand with a spirit that cannot be shaken or destabilised. Let the dominion that the nation exercises over its own inner resolve be evident to all observers in Jesus’ name.

Prayer for Unity in the Church:

Father, let the Church in our cities be composed of believers who have dominion over their spirits. Let our emotional health and our inner stability become the foundation of the unity we build together in Jesus’ name. [Pray in tongues for 1 minute] Prayer for Souls/Revival:

Father, in the name of Jesus, convict hearts by Your Spirit and lead many to genuine repentance. Let godly sorrow lead them away from sin and toward righteousness. Produce true transformation that results in lasting change.
