Devotional Text
Luke 12:35-36 –“Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning; And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.”
Success is often a combination of opportunity and preparedness. Many people pray for breakthroughs, yet when doors open, they are unprepared to step in. Jesus told the parable of the ten virgins (Matthew 25:1-13). Five were wise and had oil in their lamps, while the others were foolish and unprepared. When the bridegroom arrived, the prepared ones entered, but the others were shut out. Their lack of readiness cost them their place.
We also see this in David’s life. As a young shepherd, he diligently kept his father’s sheep, developing his skills and trust in God. His victories over a lion and a bear had prepared him for the ultimate test: facing Goliath. With confidence in God’s power, David boldly stepped forward and seized the opportunity. His preparedness propelled him from shepherd to king. Similarly, God opens doors for those who prepare. Whether in your career, ministry, or personal growth, be ready to seize the opportunities God brings your way.
Begin today to develop your skills, grow in wisdom, and stay spiritually alert. Your moment will come, and when it does, you will be prepared to walk into greatness. Hallelujah!
START-UP PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus, I ask for grace to be ready for every opportunity You bring my way. Like Joseph, help me to be diligent in my preparation so that when my time comes, I will walk into my breakthrough with all confidence. in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER FOR A NATION
CHAD
The Nation has been ripped apart by civil war, and 80% of the population lives below the poverty line. The government, as is common in Africa, is known for its high level of corruption. A Muslim minority group, the Zaghawa, control the majority of the government, trade, and armed forces. Chad has been torn apart as a nation and as a Church. Unification and reconciliation are desperately needed.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray against every agenda of the enemy to keep the citizens of this nation in poverty. We shatter such plans now and ask for a release of renewed desire in the hearts of the people for growth and development, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER FOR THE LEADERS
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray that you will grant the leaders of this nation the grace and humility to repent of their sinful ways and seek your face, in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, we pray that Israel will shine as a bright light for all to see and know that they are a people under Your protection. Confound the plans of those who seek to destroy them, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that You give the church one voice in proclaiming Jesus as the only way to salvation. Cause every contrary gospel to be superimposed by the truth, in Jesus’ Name.
PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for a release of fresh hunger for Your presence in the hearts of the unsaved. Take away every stony heart from them, that they may return to You in humility of heart, in Jesus’ Name.
