1 Peter 3:10 (KJV) – For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile
The tongue has the power to shape our reality. The relationship between our words and our experience of life is intimate. Our tongues can either be instruments of life or death. When we speak evil or deceit, we invite darkness and chaos into our lives. They become vehicles or access points for demonic forces into our lives.
However, when we choose to speak truth, we pave the way the spirit of God to flow in our lives releasing peace, and God’s blessings. This is why we ought to learn to tame our tongues and refrain our tongues from evil. This is not just about avoiding coarse language or profanity; it is about cultivating a heart that speaks truth and kindness in all situations. We can only cultivate this heart by prayer and meditation on the word.
When we do this, we open ourselves up to the goodness of God, and we will experience the fullness of life that He’s promised us. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you refrain your tongue from evil. Spend time in the word and choose to speak truthfully and honestly regardless of the circumstance. As you do, you will experience the good days that God has promised us, and your life will be filled with joy, peace, and purpose. Hallelujah!
