Devotional Text
Proverbs 13:4 – “The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.”
Imagine a student who dreams of excelling academically but refuses to study, or a person who desires financial success yet avoids hard work. Such desires, without effort, lead to nothing. Our opening scripture highlights this truth: the lazy may have wishes, but only the diligent reap rewards. As a believer, you must understand that success in any area of life is not automatic, it requires responsibility, discipline, and action.
God has given you the ability to succeed, but He will not do for you what you must do for yourself. Many believers pray for breakthroughs yet neglect the diligence required to achieve them. Though faith is essential, but faith without works is dead (James 2:17).
Therefore,Taking responsibility means committing to personal growth, putting in the necessary effort, and staying consistent even when the process seems tough. When you do your part, God will in turn do His by blessing the work of your hands (Deuteronomy 28:12).
Today, do not allow laziness, procrastination, or excuses rob you of your destiny. Take responsibility for your life, and put in the effort. Whether in your spiritual walk, career, or personal goals, step out with determination and do what is required. As you remain diligent, you will see God’s hand lifting you into abundance and success (Colossians 3:23). Hallelujah!
START-UP PRAYER
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for showing me how to attain success. Help me today to be disciplined in my work and in all I do. Give me strength to thrive in challenging times. Take away greed and lustful desires from me, and help me to pursue hard work and diligence in all my dealings, that my success may be tied to Your grace at work in me, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER FOR A NATION
CHILE
Catholicism was disestablished as the state church in 1925, however its influence is still strong, and 70% of people identify with the faith. Despite this, only 13% of Catholics regularly attend mass, and the society is moving further from traditions of the past. Social mores in areas such as divorce and cohabitation are becoming increasingly liberal, and crime, drug abuse, and materialism are also on the rise.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Father, we ask that you stir in the hearts of all believers in the land, a true consciousness of your presence and a hunger to seek you above all, in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR THE LEADERS
Father, we commit the lawmakers of this nation into Your hands. Grant them wisdom as they draft and enact laws that will govern the nation, in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, we pray that the Muslim Arabs will be delivered from the snare of Islam, and have a revelation of Jesus as the Son of God, and risen Savior in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
Father, we ask that you synchronize the heart of every believer and unify our spirits to receive and submit to Your vision for us in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father, in the name of Jesus we stand against the spirit of the power of the air, that is at work in the souls of the unsaved, and we declare that the blood of Jesus drives them out, in Jesus name.
