Colossians 3:5 (KJV) – “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
Some believers find themselves drawn away from God’s perfect plan by temptations that spring up in their lives daily. This struggle comes because the flesh naturally opposes the Spirit, and if left unchecked, sinful desires settle deep within us, leading us away from God. However, we are not helpless in this struggle. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we have the ability to put to death the behaviors of the body.
The call to “mortify” or put to death our sinful nature in our opening text is a powerful reminder that we are not bound by our fleshly desires. We have the authority and the power, through Christ, to overcome the sinful tendencies that try to dominate our lives. By the power of the Holy Spirit, we can choose to reject the behaviors of our bodies that do not align with the will of God.
One powerful way to exercise this authority is by speaking to our bodies and commanding them to align with the will of God. We can say, “Body, submit to the Spirit! Flesh, yield to the Lordship of Jesus Christ!” As we do, we are exercising the dominion and authority that God has given us over our bodies. We are declaring that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit and that we will not let sin or the flesh reign in our mortal bodies.
Today, begin to speak to your body commanding it to submit and align to the Spirit. command every behavior that negates the word of God to align in the name of Jesus. You are not an helpless victim of your flesh; You are more than a conqueror in Christ. Halleluiah!
Start-up Prayer:
Lord, help me to set my mind on the things of the Spirit today, and give me strength to turn away from every desire that opposes Your will.

Ghana, on the west coast of Africa, is known for its rich culture and strong Christian presence. Yet for many, faith has become a routine rather than a deep walk with God. The nation faces challenges such as economic hardship, moral decline, and the influence of false teachings. Ghana needs a move of God to purify the Church, revive true faith, and transform lives.
Prayer for the Nation
O Lord, we pray that you will heal Ghana from moral decline and raise a new generation that will keep your statutes and walks in Your ways.
Prayer for the Leaders
Father, in the name of Jesus, give Ghana’s leaders wisdom to govern with justice and righteousness.
Prayer for Israel
Lord, we pray that Israel will flourish, your word will prevail and your name will become a praise in the Land
Prayer for Unity in the Church
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for healing and restoration of hearts in the Church, that we may come into unity to the praise and glory of Your name.
Prayer for Souls / Revival
Lord, open the eyes of the lost in our cities and nations. Let the light of the gospel break every veil, and draw men unto You.
