Philippians 3:13–14 (KJV) – “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
One of the greatest obstacles to progress is the weight of the past—whether it is the pain of failure, the sting of regret, or the chains of guilt. Even past victories can become a trap when they make us too comfortable to pursue what is next. But the call of God is clear: let go, and press forward. Pressing toward the goal means refusing to be defined by yesterday, because the enemy delights in keeping believers stuck—whispering condemnation, magnifying mistakes, and reminding them of missed opportunities. Yet in Christ, failures are never final, and the past has no power to imprison you unless you allow it.
Every great success story carries a record of failure, but the difference is that the successful do not stop when they fall. They rise, dust themselves off, and continue until they attain what they set out for. This is the attitude of faith—to press forward, to lean in with determination, and to keep moving despite resistance. In the same manner, you must determine to move forwards despite your past mistakes. The prize God has set before you is greater than your pain, bigger than your failure, and stronger than your past, and each step of faith brings you closer to it.
Therefore, silence the voice of condemnation, refuse to camp around yesterday, fix your eyes on what lies ahead, and keep pressing, for the prize is sure for those who keep pressing on. The best is yet to come. Glory to Jesus.
