PRACTICE SELF CONTROL

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you develop self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Whether in our words, emotions, spending habits, or daily decisions, discipline is key to living a fruitful life.

Audio Version

Proverbs 14:29 – “He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.”

Self-control is one of the greatest indicators of wisdom and spiritual maturity. It is the ability to manage your emotions, words, and actions, especially in difficult situations. Our opening scripture reminds us that those who are slow to anger demonstrate great understanding, while those who act impulsively make foolish decisions.

Joseph demonstrated remarkable self-control when he refused the advances of Potiphar’s wife, choosing righteousness over momentary pleasure (Genesis 39:7-12). David had the opportunity to kill King Saul after making him live like a fugitive but restrained himself because he respected God’s anointed (1 Samuel 24:4-7). On the other hand, Esau’s lack of self-control cost him his birthright when he impulsively traded it for a bowl of porridge (Genesis 25:29-34).

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to help you develop self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). Whether in our words, emotions, spending habits, or daily decisions, discipline is key to living a fruitful life. Instead of reacting in anger, frustration, or haste, choose to pause, pray, and respond with wisdom. Glory to God!
