A business is as good as the people running it. Whether or not a business will thrive depends largely on the quality of hands that run it daily.
A good business idea capable of taking the market by storm with resounding success can be crippled by low quality workers. In the same way, a struggling business can be given life by a set of dutiful, creative, and dedicated staff.
In our opening text, we see how the Lord Jesus recruited two of His disciples. Notice their eagerness to follow Him, and the sacrifice they paid by leaving their father, just to follow the Master. These are the kind of staff you need for your business. Those who are willing to go the extra mile for your cause.
This is where many entrepreneurs make big mistakes. In a bid to cut costs, they jeopardize the chances of their business survival by overlooking competence and willingness in favour of affordability. This is a costly mistake.
Therefore, reconsider the quality of staff currently in your business or those that will be employed. As a principle, the best people should be hired for the task at hand at the best possible price.

Having the right people is the backbone of any business.
No matter what business you are in, you need to have people who others like and get on well with. You must have people who are optimists and care about their colleagues, their customers and the standard of work they produce.
I HAVE A QUESTION.
Personally I have never seen a CV where the person admitted they have been fired or they caught their hand in fraudulent activities. Unfortunately most CVs tend to hide the whole truth.
Sir how can we tell the person’s character from reading their CV when hiring?
This devotional reminds me of the story in the Bible where a Prophet (Asst manager) wanted to anoint (hire) a King (employee) for Israel (a company). Because the prophet was looking at the outward look, he thought one of them could be king. But by the help of God (the Manager), he was led to David (best candidate for the job). So it’s not about the handsomeness or beauty of the person applying for a role in your company/business, or how built or fit they are etc (although these could be a plus), it’s about them being truthworthy and ready to go extra mile.

It is not as easy we think to recruitment of the right people for a growing business. Most times, young people today are just after the money they’ll be paid rather the delivery of the assignment they called for.

Integrity and skill are important when it comes to hiring people. But some people have skill but lack integrity. Such people are a no-no for me. Because, skill can be though but integrity/attitude cannot.
Also, as an employer, it’s best to pay your staff the best your business can afford per time. Personally, sometimes, I ensure my staff are paid even if there is no money to pay myself, and it’s my goal to ensure that my staff’s take-home increases as the business grows.

Jesus as an example showed shrewdness in his hiring, and so should we. Jesus would eventually testify of not losing any, except the son of perdition. This is not only down to the great leadership of Jesus, but also due to the willingness and capabilities of the disciples.
In the end, the success of Jesus’ ministry was influenced by these people.

Sometime January, I went to a friend’s company for a delivery after work hours he directed me to his receptionist who lives in, her manner of approach was so unrefined that I began to think that probably her boss is as unserious as she is which gave me a negative impression of the system the business runs on.

One of the problems we have in Nigeria is that we often settle for inferiority. The mindset of only doing the craft to fend for ourselves and meet our daily requirements alone prevents us from most of the time mastering it. To master a craft, one must be willing to invest more time and money in learning new skills or knowledge, which will enable us to earn more money in the future. However, not everyone has the mindset or the drive to go beyond what they already know.
