Audio Version
Colossians 3:13 (KJV) – “Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.”
In our daily interactions, whether in the church, at home, or in our communities, we encounter people whose words or actions test our patience and it is natural to feel frustration or the desire to respond in kind. Left unchecked, these reactions can harden our hearts and strain relationships. Yet God calls us to a higher standard, one of forbearance.
Forbearance is a deliberate choice to endure the weaknesses and faults of others without resentment. It is allowing grace, rather than emotion, to guide our responses, so we can act with patience, humility, and love even in difficult situations. This character is cultivated as God’s Word transforms our hearts, renewing our natural responses and shaping our character. When we align our thoughts and actions with Scripture, situations that once provoked irritation or retaliation are met with patience, calmness, and wisdom. Living in this way strengthens relationships, maintains unity, and protects our hearts from bitterness.
Therefore, begin to practice forbearance today by taking an intentional step —at home, at work, or in your community—to let God’s Word lead your actions. When you submit yourself to the authority of His Word, your natural reactions will begin to change, enabling you to respond with patience, grace, and forgiveness in your daily interactions. This will help you to not only reflect Christ’s character but also cultivate healthier, stronger, and more loving relationships.
What a glorious time in God’s Word today! As you step out, hear this prophetic declaration from Prophet Isaiah Macwealth
I declare, your heart is established to walk in forbearance, and God’s Word perfects all that concerns you in Jesus’ mighty name
