1 Samuel 30:6 (KJV) – “And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.”
Have you ever experienced a loss that broke your heart, a moment when everything you worked for seemed to vanish, and even those you counted on appeared to have turned away? Perhaps a project failed, a relationship ended, or a dream slipped from your grasp. King David faced such a season when the Amalekites raided Ziklag, taking captives, burning homes, and leaving his people in despair. By every appearance, he had lost it all, yet he did something remarkable: he encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
You should know that encouraging yourself in God is not about pretending everything is fine; it is holding on to the reality that no loss, setback, or opposition can outmatch the power and faithfulness of your God. It is the quiet, determined decision to stand firm and remind yourself who God is and who you are in Him, even when the circumstances scream otherwise. King David could have been consumed by grief, anger, or hopelessness, but he chose a different path, he turned inward to strengthen himself in the Lord.
Therefore, refuse to settle into self-pity or accept defeat as your final chapter. Strengthen yourself in the Lord through prayer, drawing from His presence until courage rises within you. Open His Word and let His promises shape your thoughts. Recall His past faithfulness and declare His truth over your situation. This is how you encourage yourself in the Lord, by letting His Word, His presence, and His power become your strength.
The same God who restored David and gave him total victory will restore you, strengthen you, and fill your heart with joy again. With Him, you can recover all, rebuild what was broken, and stand victorious. Glory to Jesus!

Start-up Prayer
Father, thank You for being my unfailing source of strength; today I receive courage in You to rise above every challenge, in Jesus mighty name.
Please join me as we pray for a nation today.
Nation Focus: Indonesia
Indonesia, the world’s largest Muslim-majority nation, is a land of many islands, cultures, and languages. The Church is present but faces discrimination, opposition, and occasional violence. Millions remain unreached, with many people groups still without Scripture. Yet, God is raising courageous believers and opening new doors for the Gospel. Indonesia needs a move of God that breaks spiritual strongholds, strengthens the persecuted Church, and spreads the light of Christ to every island and village.
