Devotional Text
Psalm 1:1-2 -“Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.”
Everyday, people seek guidance from different sources; social media, friends, blogs, news, etc. However, true wisdom and direction comes from the Word of God. Our opening scripture describes the person who is truly blessed: one who does not follow the ways of the ungodly but instead delights in God’s Word and meditates on it constantly. This means that your success and stability in life are directly connected to how much you value and engage the Word.
Delighting in the Word means more than just reading it occasionally. It means adopting it as the standard for your life, and allowing it shape your thoughts and actions. The Word of God is life, in it lies the power to everything you need. It can give counsel about that business deal you are about to sign, heal your body in time of sickness, change your financial state, deliver you from oppression, and equip you for every good work (Joshua 1:8, Hebrews 4:12). When you consistently meditate on the word, you will begin to walk in wisdom, make better decisions, and experience breakthrough where you need it. Hallelujah!
Make it your daily habit to spend time in the Word. Study it, meditate on it, and apply it to your life. As you do this, you will begin to see changes, and the flourishing power of the Word will become evident in your life. Say Amen to this!
START-UP PRAYER:
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You for the gift of the Word, help me today to apply my heart to meditating on all that is written therein. Help me to be obedient to the instructions that follow, that I may prosper in all I do, bringing Glory to Your name, in Jesus’ name.
PRAYER FOR A NATION
CHILE
Catholicism was disestablished as the state church in 1925, however its influence is still strong, and 70% of people identify with the faith. Despite this, only 13% of Catholics regularly attend mass, and the society is moving further from traditions of the past. Social mores in areas such as divorce and cohabitation are becoming increasingly liberal, while crime, drug abuse, and materialism are also on the rise.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for the deliverance of women and girls from widespread domestic violence and murder in this land today in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR THE LEADERS
Father, we pray that believers who fear you will begin to take high leadership positions in this land, and they will lead with integrity and the fear of the Lord in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR ISRAEL
Father, we pray that You will miraculously protect Your people, Israel from attacks of enemy nations and terrorist groups today in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that you will help us cling to our first love. Help us not to take You or Your message of redemption for granted, in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR SOULS / REVIVAL
Father, we ask that there be various opportunities for the unsaved to be aware of your love and how lost they are without you. Cause the social media, their co-workers, literature and other means to bring awareness of their sin and your solution to them, in Jesus name.
