BE THE LIGHT
📖 Luke 19:7-8 KJV
‘And when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner. And Zacchæus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold.’
Many believers remain stuck in the past, burdened by the shame of their former way of life, and afraid to move forward or witness for Christ because the wrongs of their past is common knowledge to those around them. They allow this guilt develop into a stronghold, keeping them from stepping into the light of God’s grace. But this is not how it should be, for Christ has set us free from shame!
In our opening text, Zacchaeus’ life changing encounter with Jesus illustrates the power of bold confrontation with our past. By giving half his possessions to the poor and restoring what he took unjustly, he demonstrated true repentance. While we can’t undo every past wrong, we must acknowledge and release them, embracing in totality the forgiveness Jesus offers. The most beautiful thing about the Lord’s forgiveness is that it keeps no record of our past; to Him the errors of our past never happened. Amazing right?
Why not let go of that heavy burden you’ve been carrying all these years? Choose today to declare boldly that “old things are passed away,” and step into the new God has made available to you. He is counting on you to be a light to others, and no condemnation should hold you back (Romans 8:1) from being one. so shine bright and show forth the Glory of God. Hallelujah!
START-UP PRAYER:
Oh Lord, help me to let go of my past and embrace Your forgiveness. Strengthen me to be a light to those around me, reflecting Your love and grace without fear or condemnation in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR A NATION
BELARUS
The majority of Belarusians belong to the Orthodox Church with large Catholic and non-religious segments, yet the Orthodox Church is very ritualistic, and there is high nominalism among those who attend. Religion was outlawed and oppressed during the Soviet era, and this persecution still continues. A 2002 law severely limited religious freedoms by outlawing worship meetings in homes, congregations of less than 20 individuals, new religious schools, and the circulation of religious literature not approved by the state. It also hindered churches’ ability to buy or rent land. Yet even in this hostile environment of persecution, more and more people claim to be followers of Jesus.
PRAYER FOR THE NATION:
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray for the unsaved in this nation, and we ask that the eyes of their understanding will be enlightened and the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ will shine in there hearts in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR THE LEADERS:
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask that you will give this nation, leaders that will make laws to drive morality and the Fear of the Lord amongst the people so that they can live peaceful and quiet lives for your glory in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR ISRAEL:
Father, in the Name of Jesus, we pray that you gather them out of the countries where they have been scattered so that your name will be hallowed even among the heathen in Jesus Name.
PRAYER FOR UNITY IN THE CHURCH:
Father, in the name of Jesus,we pray for the spirit of unity and oneness to rest on the church and every member of it, that we may fulfil the purpose of Christ with one mind, in Jesus name.
PRAYER FOR SOULS/REVIVAL:
Father , in the name of Jesus, we pray that the door of faith will be opened unto the unsaved in our cities and nation today, leading to a massive harvest of souls and testimonies, in Jesus name.
